Steve Windom, LLC is led by Steve Windom, former Alabama Lt. Governor and State Senator.


Mr. Windom is a practicing attorney in Alabama and is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Mobile Bar Association, and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States.  Mr. Windom began practicing in Mobile in 1974. Mr. Windom has practiced and has tried jury trials in the United States District Court and the Circuit Court of Mobile County, as well as other federal and state courts.  He also has extensive real estate experience, having represented developers in the acquisition, financing and sales phases of commercial and residential real estate developments. Mr. Windomís early years of practice also included extensive bankruptcy practice. Mr. Windom is a member of the American Association of Attorney Mediators and has been recognized for his skill in resolving disputes prior to trial.

Mr. Windom maintains the coveted "A/V" attorney rating from Martindale-Hubbell, has been a faculty member in numerous seminars, and has testified as an expert witness on several occasions.



Mr. Windom has been active in Alabama politics since 1974. He worked in various campaigns ranging from State Representative to United States Senate.  After being a campaign worker for many years, Mr. Windom determined to run for office and in 1989 was elected to the Alabama State Senate in a special election.  He was again elected in 1990 and again in 1994.  Mr. Windom served as Chairman of the Banking and Insurance Committee in the Alabama Senate, a position he held from 1990 to 1998.  He has also served on numerous other boards and committees, including three terms as a member of the board of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce.  Mr. Windom was selected Conservation Legislator of the Year by the Alabama Wildlife Federation in 1995, Legislator of the Year by the National Federation of Independent Business in 1996, and Legislator of the Year in 1997 by the Independent Insurance Agents.

Mr. Windomís legislative career is marked with leadership, particularly on business issues.  He carried the fight to bring Tort Reform to Alabama.  As a result of that leadership, in 1998, the business community asked Mr. Windom to run for Lieutenant Governor.  Against a tremendous onslaught from trial lawyers, Mr. Windom was elected the first Republican Lt. Governor since reconstruction on a pledge to bring tort reform Alabama.  In Mr. Windomís first legislative session as Lieutenant Governor sweeping tort reform legislation was enacted.  In 2000 Mr. Windom was selected to co-chair the Bush-Cheney Campaign in Alabama.

Mr. Windom started Steve WIndom, LLC in January 2003 which combines lobbying, governmental affairs and an active law practice.
